(Saving an image with a transparent background is now done by this same method instead of using a check box in the save dialog.) - The rotation degrees indicator now has a decimal point, and you can control rotation degrees in exact 1, 5, and 45 degree increments by using the Option, Control, and Shift keys respectively while rotating with the mouse pointer. Improved automatic resizing of canvas to accommodate bigger image sizes.

Improved usage of slider to increase and decrease size of selected areas. Keyboard shortcuts for ruler and grid. Moved Crop from Image menu to Edit menu. Use Windows 10 at work but Mac at home. Love me Apple. For years I have been using Microsoft Paint to edit images to illustrate teaching the use of a program or new feature. Became very skilled with Paint to “Photoshop” an amge with the high cost of Photoshop.

Have been so sold on Apple I also purchased a Mac Mini. Over time Microsoft decided to embrace the Apple hardware and has done a great job bringing the Office suite to the Mac. The biggest void on my Mac’s have been a Paint replacement. After extensive searching I found Patina. The one tool I always use in Paint was the eye dropper.

Problem was I wasn’t finding it. Tried several higher end products but they were over my head for now and did not want to spend months learning. Then I discovered Patina.

Would have preferred a demo version but $2.99 wasn’t going to break me. So far I love Patina.

It has all the features that I have been using in Paint. DireColt, Excellent replacement for Microsoft Paint I was a regular user of Microsoft Paint for doing mockups and annotations with images. I had gotten quite good at being able to manipulate the images, without having to deal with the complexities of Photoshop, layers, etc. So, when I bought Patina, after reading the positive reviews, I was hoping that it would match my expectations and allow me to do the same work on my Mac. My expectations were met completely with Patina and I have found that I can everything that I could do before and in some areas it is even easier. If you are looking for a Microsoft Paint replacement for the Mac this will not disappoint. To all of those reviewers that are expecting more than a bitmap editor this is not for you.

It does what the developers say it does. DireColt, Excellent replacement for Microsoft Paint I was a regular user of Microsoft Paint for doing mockups and annotations with images.

Christopher606, okay but. I loved this.

I was drawing a dragon from Wings of Fire. The drawing turned out amazing, better than anything I expected. Then I accidentally clicked the lineart with a bucket tool, causing the entire part that was black turn the same color as the scales. And since the mouth was touching the lineart, and so were the eyes, basically the entire picture was ruined. And there was no undo button. YOU NEED TO ADD AN UNDO BUTTON.

Unless I’m being completely ignorant, I’m pretty sure there is no undo button and THERE NEEDS TO BE ONE. Seriously, I make mistakes with my art a lot, and this is the only good art program I have but without an undo button it is practically worthless. I still gave it three stars, though, because everything else was good. Developer Response, Christopher, you can undo in Patina by going to the Edit menu (it even tells you what specific undo action will occur) or by doing Command + Z (like pretty much any Mac app). We wish you would have contacted us with your question instead of publishing this rating.

We work very hard to make Patina an excellent app and would appreciate it if you would consider changing your rating now that you are aware how simple it is to undo in Patina. Thank you for your consideration.
